This educational kit illustrates the strong interest of spectrophotometers in the industry and academic analysis of optical blades.

In fact, this kit accompanied by instructions, guides you in the comprehension and usefulness of the spectrophotometric measurements to determine the optical indices of a material through grooves saved to the SpectroVio II.

Thus, two slide format different samples are offered to study different aspects:
• Polymer film: studying the grooves present in the film then calculating its mechanical thickness.
• Glass slide with processing: comprehensive study of the grooves spectral response through the multiple reflections model:
- Theoretical study of the response in dispersion of the substrate refraction index
- Identification of the high or low index nature of the deposited layer
- Reflection coefficient extrapolation and calculation of the thin layer
- Determining its optical thickness
- Calculating the monolayer index
- Determining its physical mechanical thickness

These variations of transmission or grooves are the results of interferences produced within a material deposited as a thin layer as the coherence length of the natural light.
The spectral analysis thus allows quantifying the indexes of the deposited support and film and determining the film mechanical and optical thicknesses.
